Lex Protocol does not sell your personal information. Lex Protocol does not share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We never have.
What this page is
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”), gives California residents the right to opt out of the “sale” and “sharing” of their personal information, and requires every business with that kind of data flow to provide a clear and conspicuous link titled “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” on every page where Californians may land. This is that page.
What “sell” and “share” mean
Under Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140:
- “Sell” means selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring or otherwise communicating personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.
- “Share” means making personal information available to a third party for cross-context behavioural advertising, whether or not for money.
Disclosures to a service provider that processes data on our behalf under a written contract, for a documented business purpose, are not a sale or a share.
What we actually do with data
We process your personal information solely to provide the Lex Protocol service to you. Our disclosures to third parties are limited to service providers that help us run the product (transcription, AI drafting, billing, error monitoring, email delivery, hosting) under written data-processing terms that prohibit them from using the data for their own purposes or from selling it onward. Our full list of service providers, including the data each receives and the jurisdiction they operate in, is published in our Security Policy § 5.
We do not run advertising on Lex Protocol. We do not sell user lists. We do not share personal information with data brokers or with any third party for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Submitting an opt-out request anyway
If you would still like to formally exercise your right to opt out of sale/sharing — for the record, or as part of a broader privacy request — you can:
- Use our Privacy Rights Request form;
- Or email privacy@lexprotocol.co.
We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and complete it within 45 days, as required by CCPA § 1798.130. You do not need to create an account to submit a request, and you will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights (CCPA § 1798.125).
Authorised agents
You may use an authorised agent to submit an opt-out request on your behalf. We will require written, signed authorisation from you to your agent before we action the request, and we may ask you to verify your identity directly with us.
Other privacy rights
California residents also have the right to know what personal information we hold, the right to correct inaccurate personal information, the right to delete personal information, and the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. Those rights are described in § 8 of our Privacy Policy and can be exercised through the same Privacy Rights Request form linked above. Most of these rights can also be exercised directly inside the Lex Protocol app at Settings → Account & Data.
